Brew Rebellion Music Policy

When we built our brewery we designed it to be a place where you can come and purchase a unique craft beer made with local ingredients and local hands. We never intended to be a nightclub or a bar. We don’t have live bands, we don’t have a juke box and we don’t play music in the background. We do have televisions for sporting events but that is the extent of our entertainment options with the exception of Brad.

We would like to have a band play now and again and we would love to have music blasting for our guests but it just isn’t possible because of federal copyright laws which are enforced by groups like BMI, ASCAP and SESAC.

These folks demand that a place like ours pay them to allow us the right to hire a band to play your favorite music. The problem is that by the time we get through paying all three of them for this right, it costs us thousands of dollars per year and small venues like ours just aren’t set up for that type of overhead.

If somewhere down the road that these three entities could figure a way to make it affordable for outfits like us, coffee houses and restaurants to pay a smaller venue fee, we can think about live music.

But until then, Brad will entertain us with his wit and charm.
